Ok, I admit - I am a little obsessed with pattern and texture and plants... But these were absolutely amazing.

New Work

The New Arrival - I'm so excited about this one! I love working on 100% cotton paper :) I know you can't see much, but it's going to be great.

Sharing Talents - I blocked in the colour here but I think I'm going to change it.

Pandora - yes, I am still working on her intermittantly :)

Gigantica

This is really one of my favourite works - it has taken a long time to complete (and there are still some finishing touches that need to be made) but each section of painting has been a labour of complete love and dedication. When I started thinking in terms of the subject, I initially used my favourite springboard scripture in Proverbs (Who can find a virtuous woman) and the foilage in the background is typical of the eastern cape. The plants aren't exactly attractive or "pretty" in the conventional sense - but they are unique and hardy to survive the climate and lack of rain in the eastern cape. With this in mind, I considered it an analogy of the Lord's children - many aren't "attractive" in the conventional sense - they might not be good looking or have the kind of material status that the world expects or demands. But they are equipped to cope with the harsh conditions, and they flourish with the Lord's help. They are unique, a peculiar people. With that, I FINALLY settled on a title: "A price above rubies" (See Proverbs 31:10)
